Although rowing is not an official sport through the Roslyn School District, Friends of Port Rowing is a very popular group for Roslyn students who are interested in the sport.
Port Rowing builds strength and character, teaches sportsmanship and discipline, and instills self-confidence for teens and adults on Long Island through the sport of rowing.
Port Rowing believes that rowing builds strong bodies and that athletic competition builds strong minds. They welcome and train the novice rower and strengthen competitive rowers. Their goal is for rowers to maximize his or her athletic potential. Rowing is an opportunity to build endurance, personal ability, courage, strength and teamwork. They hope that every rower will discover the powerful connection between themselves, their boat, their teammates and the water. They believe this connection builds character and an abiding affinity for our environment.
Friends of Port Rowing is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 2010 in Port Washington, New York to promote rowing in our surrounding waters.
