Welcome to Science!

  • Welcome to the Science Department Webpage.  We recently redone many of our science labs! It is our hope that you will find answers to all of your science-related questions here.

Students will find the science program at Roslyn High School challenging, engaging, relevant and informative.  It is our goal that students leave our school with mastery in the areas of Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  We offer several different paths to meet that goal both through our core science courses and the elective program.

Our Regents level science courses are tied to the New York State Learning Standards and prepare students for the Regents Examinations in June.  Students will complete at least 1200 minutes of hands-on laboratory experiences in preparation for those exams.

The Honors level science courses go beyond the NYS Learning Standards and prepare students to take AP science classes in the future.

The PLTW Pathway to Engineering program offers students a rich STEM experience including: working with CAD software, robotics, coding, automation and other engineering concepts.

We also offer a variety of science electives to help students grow beyond their typical science experience.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

From launching space explorations to delivering safe, clean water to communities, engineers find solutions to pressing problems and turn their ideas into reality. PLTW Engineering empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and make the leap from dreamers to doers. The program’ s courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers. Students take from the courses in-demand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.
