COURSE:           French 3/3H

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF COURSE:

This course continues the development of the listening and speaking skills with increased emphasis on reading and writing.  More complex structural patterns are developed.  There is continued familiarization with French culture and civilization.  The values inherent in acquiring second?language proficiency and heightened cultural awareness of the multi?cultural society in which we live are promoted. This course culminates with the Comprehensive Regents Examination in French.

MAJOR TOPICS COVERED:

The students are familiarized with the study skills guide for foreign language.

The major topics that will be developed with relevant and appropriate grammar topics are: personal identification, house and home, family life, community and neighborhood, physical environment, meal taking and beverages, health and welfare, education, earning a living, leisure, public and private services, shopping, travel, and current events.  These topics will be used to facilitate self?expression in French.
