Five RHS Seniors named Finalists in 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition

All Five Roslyn High School seniors—Ryan Chou, Julia Diamond, Grace Peng, Lindsey Russ, and Ethan Wachsman—who were recognized as semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition have been named finalists. These academically talented high school seniors will now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered in the spring.

“We are exceedingly proud of the five Roslyn High School students who have been recognized as National Merit Finalists,” said Superintendent Allison Brown. “Achieving finalist standing is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to their academic capabilities and unlimited potential.”

These students are among 15,000 nationwide to be named finalists, representing less than one percent of high school seniors in the United States. Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
