Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program (UPK)
The New York State Education Department has provided a grant to the Roslyn Public Schools for a fully funded Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program (UPK) for the 2023-2024 school year. The UPK program will be a free, five-hour, full-day program, running Monday through Friday. It will be run by The Growing Tree Nursery School, a Universal Pre-Kindergarten center located at 140 East Broadway, Roslyn. The program will follow the Roslyn School District calendar. Transportation will not be provided.
This program is entirely funded by a New York State Department of Education grant, not by community taxpayers, the school district, nor the families of students enrolled. Continuation of the program each year is fully dependent on funding from New York State.
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible to apply for the Roslyn UPK Program, your child must reside in the District and turn four years old on or before December 1, 2023.
DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION:
You must submit your application no later than Monday, February 27, 2023. Please note that submitting the application (whether online or by mail) does not guarantee a place in the program.
Random selection is required by New York State, therefore, selection for the UPK program will be conducted by a lottery with a limited number of students to be selected. The final number of students will be determined by The Growing Tree Nursery School as per their availability. Once the limited number of students has been reached, any additional student who has entered the lottery will be placed on the waiting list. Those selected will be notified by mail.
You may apply online using the link below, or mail in your application by printing it out and mailing it in. See below for further instructions.
