Literary Pumpkins at Harbor Hill
Ms. Kaplan and Ms. Esposito's third-grade class at Harbor Hill had a blast designing pumpkins to look like their favorite book characters. Using paint, markers, and imagination, each student transformed their pumpkin into fun versions of characters like Dogman, The Grinch, and Smart Cookie. Before they began, they learned about character traits and discussed qualities that make a character unique. As they crafted, students applied this knowledge, explaining how their designs reflected their characters' personalities. This project sparked creativity and excitement about reading— blending literature and art in a joyful way.
“The students loved this project and took great pride in their pumpkins, carefully designing and planning each step along the way! I am so proud of their hard work!” said Ms. Kaplan.
