Roslyn High School Team Qualifies for State Science Fair
Roslyn High School students Vivian Lin and Emilee Youn's 9th grade research project was named the most distinguished Behavioral Science project in the Junior Division of the 2024 Long Island Science Congress. The team looked at the potential of cause related marketing to increase sales while raising money for important social causes. They developed their project as part of the high school's Introduction to Research class under the mentorship of Dr. Allyson Weseley. They did so well at the local level that they qualified to compete at the state congress.
Highest Honors awards at the local level were also awarded to the team of: Leah Chan, Tyler Sofer, and Jasmine Wang and the team of Esther Han, Darren Shen, and Katelyn Zheng. Honors awards went to the 9th grade teams of Emma Balakhanei, Sofia Carlese, and Ruby Charnes; Orla Gajwani, Gefen Portnoy, and Dylan Sakaria; Ethan Hsiao, Brayden Kui, and Ronald Zhao; and finally the team of Claire Kim, Christopher Kim, and Leon Xiong.
In the senior division, Honors awards were won by: the teams of Zuri Chan, Elizabeth Hsiao, and Serin Jo (mentored by Ms. Alexandra Stevens); Zachary Lee and Matthew Lin (also mentored by Ms. Stevens), and the team of Michaela Mallin and Hua Lin (mentored by Ms. Andrea Pearlman). Individual Honors were earned by Taylor Goldberg, Annie Marcus, and Jessica Zucker, who all worked with Dr. Weseley.
