East Hills 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony
East Hills Elementary School hosted its fifth-grade moving up ceremony on Friday, June 14, 2024. Principal Sherry Ma and Assistant Principal Jennifer Sheehan presided over the noon ceremony, which was held in the Roslyn High School auditorium.
Smiling broadly and dressed in black and white, the fifth-graders entered the auditorium to Pomp and Circumstance. Principal Ma gave opening remarks, followed by Roslyn Board of Education President Meryl Waxman Ben-Levy, who shared some treasured advice from Dr. Seuss. In attendance were Superintendent Allison Brown and incoming Director of Pupil Personnel Services Cindy Samide.
Remarks by PFA Co-Presidents Kathy Kim and Samantha Fensterman were followed by a rendition of "Have it All" and "The East Hills Song," sung by the fifth-grade class. There was also a presentation of the 2024 fifth-grade project and schoolwide mosaic.
The fifth-grade teachers read aloud the names of the students during the presentation of promotional certificates, followed by remarks from Roslyn Middle School Principal Craig Johanson, who told the students how much he was looking forward to meeting them in the fall. He was followed by Assistant Principal Jennifer Sheehan, who gave closing remarks.
