New Director of Pupil Personnel and Special Education Services Appointed at Roslyn School District

Cindy Samide was appointed the new Director of Pupil Personnel and Special Education Services at the March 21, 2024, Roslyn Board of Education meeting. She will assume the responsibilities of the position on October 1, 2024, when the current director, Barbara Schwartz, retires.

Ms. Samide has been with the Roslyn School District since 2014. She currently holds the position of Assistant Director of PPS & Special Education, coordinating all aspects of special education at the elementary school level, working closely with the director to support the overall department needs. She has served as administrator for the Special Education Extended School Year program, managed the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) program, collaborated with Central Administration on the development of the district Universal Pre-K program, and worked closely with SEPTA and the PFA to promote parent and school partnerships. Prior to her tenure at Roslyn Schools, Cindy was an Educational Consultant at various child development centers on Long Island. 

She has a B.S. from Cornell University in Human Development and Family Studies; a M.S. in Exceptional Education from SUNY College at Buffalo; and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College of Education. Cindy also holds a Professional NYS Certification as a School District Leader, and Permanent NYS Certifications for School Administrator/Supervisor, Special Education (Birth-21), and Nursery, Kindergarten and Grades 1-6.
