RHS Students Earn 28 Medals at Science Olympiad Regional Final

On February 3, 2024, The Roslyn High School Science Olympiad Club earned 28 medals at the Nassau County West Science Olympiad Regional Final—held at Kellenberg Memorial High School. The club, made up of three teams (A, B, & C) participated in 23 events that involved concentrations ranging from biology and health sciences to physics and engineering.

Team A earned an impressive 17 medals, with first place finishes in Chemistry Lab and Dynamic Planet, as well as top three placements in six other events. They finished in fourth place overall, triumphing over 35 other teams and securing themselves a place at the New York State Finals. Roslyn B and C came in 8th and 14th place respectively, earning 11 medals. 

The Roslyn Science Olympiad Club is led by captains Aryan Kumar, Mason Lee, Zejane Lee, Audrey Tseng, Chloe Tseng, and Hanah Youn, and junior captains Tessla Chan, Jace Ko, and Matthew Lin. 

“I could not be more proud of how far we have come, but we definitely do not plan on letting our momentum falter,” said Captain Mason Lee, “Our next goal is to sweep states and beat our longtime rivals, Ward Melville.”

In March, Team A will travel to LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, for a two-day competition to try and secure a spot to compete in the national tournament, which will be hosted at Michigan State University in May.
