Robotic Surgeon Inspires RHS Students

NYU Chief of Thoracic Surgery Dr. Laurence Spier visited Roslyn High School to share innovative insights on robotic surgery with pre-med and robotics students. A pioneer in his field, Dr. Spier is one of only ten surgeons in the country presently performing robotic thoracic surgery.

Dr. Spier gave students an in-depth presentation that showcased the DaVinci Robotic Surgical System. Using numerous videos and images, he taught students about the advantages of having advanced technology in the operating room. Students were enthralled to learn about the robot’s interactive, minimally invasive, surgical approach.

"Dr. Spier was very engaging with our students, and they were so appreciative that he took the time to introduce this innovative technology to them," said science teacher Denise Tretola.
