New Principal for Heights School
MAR 8, 2019 - The district is pleased to announce that Mary E. Wood, assistant principal at Harbor Hill School, has been appointed as the next principal of the Heights School. She will assume her position next summer following the retirement of the current principal, Regina Colardi.
Ms. Wood has been a member of Roslyn's administrative team for more than a decade. She first came to the district in 2008 as assistant principal at Heights, where she also chaired the Committee on Preschool Education. Two years later she moved to Harbor Hill and has served as the assistant principal there since that time. Previously, she held teaching and administrative positions in the Northport and Rockville Centre schools.
"I cannot think of anyone better than Mary Wood to follow in the footsteps of Ms. Colardi at Heights," said Superintendent Allison Brown about Ms. Wood's appointment by the Board of Education on March 7. "Her previous tenure at Heights, her extensive background in elementary education and special education, and her long experience in Roslyn make her uniquely qualified for this leadership position. With this appointment, we can all be confident that the wonderful, nurturing environment that we all value at the Heights School will be in excellent hands in the years ahead."
