This fall and winter season is alive with music performed by our students, and also filled with notable accomplishments by our student musicians.
Five Roslyn students were accepted into the Long Island String Festival Association's annual performances this year: Mason Lee and Gary Nercessian from the middle school, Elizabeth Lee from East Hills School, and Emily Sung and Alex Liu from the high school. The secondary festival for students in grades 9-12 was held last month, while the intermediate festival for students in grades 5-8 will be held in early March.
A record four Roslyn High School students were among the top student musicians in the state who were selected to perform with the NYSSMA All-State ensembles in Rochester last weekend. They are Abigail Drucker (Treble Chorus), Yeri Kim (Band), Mark Russ (Mixed Chorus) and Sarah Kim (String Orchestra).
The Roslyn High School Treble Chorus and Roslyn Chorale performed for Sunharbor Manor residents last week, one of a series of such concerts presented by various ensembles during the year.
Also last month, student musicians were inducted into the Tri-M Honor Society in a special ceremony at Roslyn High School.
Congratulations to our students and all of our music teachers on these accomplishments and for bringing so much great music into our lives. The music continues with the annual winter concerts in our schools throughout the month of December.
