Six 5th grade students at East Hills Elementary School brainstormed an idea to honor the teachers and staff at their school. They created a box and placed it in the main office for students to nominate people they wished to recognize. Each week, the selected honorees are featured on the morning announcements. They also receive a STAR pin and a handwritten thank you note.  Security guards Mike Teneriello and Joe Gragano were among the first group to receive the honor. 

I was overwhelmed with happiness and joy to receive such an honor,” said Mr. Teneriello. “I’m very grateful to have such a wonderful job and I love working with these children and the staff at East Hills."
