Shawn Anand, a senior at Roslyn High School, has been named a News 12 Scholar Athlete. Shawn is captain of the Boys' Varsity Volleyball team and runs spring and winter track, in which he was all-conference for the last two years. He is on his way to being a 12-season athlete. In academics, Shawn is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, a national finalist in the 2016 Chemistry Olympiad, and has been a state qualifier in the Science Olympiad for several years. He is very committed to scientific research, and has been engaging in cancer research at St. John's University. Shawn also volunteers his time at North Shore Hospital. During the 2015-16 school year, Newsday named him one of Long Island's "students to watch."
