Dr. Mira Martincich is a Nassau Hall of Fame Inductee
Dr. Mira Martincich, a former Director of Physical Education & Athletics in the Roslyn Public Schools, was inducted into the Nassau County High School Athletics Hall of Fame at a special ceremony at Crest Holow Country Club on September 30, 2015.
For more than 30 years, Dr. M was a teacher, coach and administrator in Roslyn. She retired in 2009, though she returned for several months in 2014 to serve as interim athletic director. She is already a member of the Hall of Fame of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
The Nassau County High School Athletics Hall of Fame was created to recognize, preserve and promote the heritage of interscholastic sports in Nassau County.
The Hall of Fame honored its first class of 28 inductees on September 30, including nine administrators, nine coaches, six athletes, two contributors and two officials. Inductees range from NFL fullback Jim Brown to Bethpage’s Howard Vogts, the winningest high school football coach in New York State. These inductees have spent their lives working in, promoting, and advocating for the importance of interscholastic sports to their community, students, athletes, teammates, and colleagues.
The entire class of 2015 includes: Jean Bartholomew, Carl Braun, Jim Brown, Joan Case, Diane Chapman, Marie Corrado, Jay Fiedler, Tom Flatley, Rosalia Gioia, Lorraine Hoffmann, Rebecca King, Ethel T. Kloberg, Buddy Krumenacker, Dr. Mira Martincich, Marcus Martone, Jason Morgan, Bernie O'Brien, Morlon Greenwood, Ted Petersen, Don Ryan, Judy Salerno, Fred Smith, Dr. Nathalie Smith, Don Snyder, Wally Szczerbiak, Dr. James Tolle, Howie Vogts and Jack White.
