Roslyn SEPTA Hosts 2026 Honoree End-of-Year Celebration

The Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) hosted its 2026 Awards Celebration in the library of Roslyn High School on Friday, June 12, 2026. The breakfast ceremony is held annually to recognize inspirational individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the lives of Roslyn’s special education students and families. Cindy Samide, Director of PPS and Special Education, welcomed guests on behalf of SEPTA and congratulated the well-deserving honorees.

The Golden Award, established in memory of Jodi Golden to honor her contributions to SEPTA, was presented to teacher and coach Kerriann Jannotte. This award recognizes a Roslyn School District professional whose dedication and commitment have made a lasting impact on students receiving special education services. Ms. Jannotte was recognized for her support of students both in the classroom and on the courts, where she has fostered growth, confidence, and success.

The Very Special Educator Award was presented to Danielle Bailey, who works with students in a Special Class setting at East Hills. This award honors educators who consistently provide outstanding advocacy and support for students with disabilities. Ms. Bailey was recognized for her deep devotion to meeting the individual needs of her students and creating opportunities for them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Tara Berkowitz Helping Hand Award was presented to Gail Kennedy, a school counselor at Roslyn Middle School. This award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to support students with neurodiverse learning styles and foster meaningful connections that enhance their social and emotional well-being. Ms. Kennedy was honored for her dedication to ensuring every student feels supported, included, and equipped for success through her strong partnerships with students, families, staff, and administrators.
