Roslyn Celebrates World Language Week Across Middle and High Schools

The Roslyn School District proudly celebrated World Language Week with a series of engaging, educational, and culturally enriching activities at both Roslyn Middle School and Roslyn High School. The weeklong celebration highlighted the importance of global awareness, language learning, and cultural appreciation across grade levels.

At Roslyn Middle School, students participated in a dynamic lineup of events designed to immerse them in cultures from around the world. The week began with multilingual morning announcements and international music played during passing time. Students also enjoyed a special performance by the Na-Ni Chen Dance Company, which brought global traditions to life through dance for all grade levels.

Additional activities included a popular Mystery Country Contest, a Multicultural Food Day organized by the PFA, and hands-on Multicultural Craft Days. Students also took part in a Teacher Fun Facts Scavenger Hunt, encouraging exploration and connection throughout the school community.

At Roslyn High School, students took an active role in shaping the week’s festivities. Throughout the week, student-selected international music was played during passing periods, while cafeteria screens featured student presentations highlighting countries from around the world. On Friday, music was replaced with “important facts about world languages,” reinforcing the educational focus of the celebration.

Students also contributed to the visual spirit of the week by decorating cafeteria windows and participating in a variety of collaborative activities. A highlight of the week was Multicultural Food Day, held on Thursday, March 26 and organized by the PFA. This cherished Roslyn tradition brought students together to contribute and share authentic dishes from their home cultures, creating a meaningful celebration of the rich diversity within our school community.
