RHS Quartet to Perform at Lincoln Center

Four talented students from Roslyn High School have made history by being selected to perform at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s 42nd Annual Young Musicians Competition, marking the first time both the district and school have entered—and advanced—in this esteemed event.

The competition attracts the finest student ensembles from across the tri-state area, progressing through multiple challenging rounds. Earlier this month, the Roslyn Quartet competed in the Semi-Regional Competition alongside outstanding groups from the Herricks, Syosset, and Hicksville school districts. After a rigorous selection process, the quartet earned the honor to represent Long Island, ranking among the region’s highest-level student chamber ensembles.

The Roslyn Quartet will take the stage at Alice Tully Hall on Thursday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m. to perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet in C minor, Op. 18, No. 4. The ensemble features violinists Elizabeth Lee (’26) and Jihoon Shin (’26), violist Aaron Ye (’28), and cellist Nicholas Chao (’26).

In preparation for this prestigious performance, the students will receive coaching from members of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, providing a unique opportunity to refine their artistry at the highest professional level.

“This is an extraordinary and really special moment for these students and for Roslyn,” said Douglas Aliano, RHS Orchestra Director. “They’ve put in an incredible amount of work, and what’s most meaningful is the way they listen to each other, collaborate, and create something together at a very high level. To see that culminate in a performance at Lincoln Center—and in our first year competing—is something we’re all incredibly proud of.”
