Pawsitively Sew Delicious
Roslyn Middle School students combined creativity and compassion in a recent service learning project through the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) curriculum. Ms. Rachel Frescott and Ms. Liza Mancia’s 6th and 7th-grade classes used their sewing skills to craft toys for cats and dogs, which were donated to the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington.
The students also baked nutritious treats for the shelter’s dogs, adding a tasty touch to their contributions. The project gave students a hands-on way to practice practical skills while supporting animals in need, demonstrating the power of learning through service.
