Hispanic Heritage Discussion Group Visits MOMA
On January 30th, students from the Hispanic Heritage Discussion Group, together with students from Spanish 5H, spent the day at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in Manhattan.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the museum’s collections and various exhibitions. They engaged with the work of artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and others. In addition, students were able to spend time exploring the Wifredo Lam exhibition, When I Don’t Sleep, I Dream. Lam was a Cuban-born artist of both African and Chinese descent, whose Afro-Caribbean artwork invites viewers to see the world from new perspectives.
This experience provided students with a meaningful opportunity to view original works by influential Latin and Hispanic artists and to deepen their understanding of cultural identity through art.
