Fun in the Sun Day at RHS
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, students in grades K–12 gathered at Roslyn High School for the 3rd Annual Fun in the Sun Day, a districtwide adapted field day designed to ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate, connect, and succeed.
The event was inspired by late Roslyn School District teacher Tara Berkowitz, who recognized the need for a field day specifically tailored to students with diverse abilities. Her commitment to creating meaningful and inclusive experiences helped bring this special day to life.
Throughout the morning, students rotated through a variety of activity stations that encouraged movement, teamwork, participation, and fun while accommodating the unique needs of each student. At the conclusion of the event, every student received a medal in recognition of their effort and sportsmanship. Thanks to the generosity of SEPTA, students also enjoyed an ice pop to celebrate a successful day.
“Fun in the Sun is truly a team effort,” said physical education teacher Kathleen Dwyer. “It takes the dedication of teachers, teaching assistants, administrators, and volunteers to make a day like this possible. Looking around and seeing students trying new things, having fun together, and supporting one another was incredibly rewarding. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the day possible and for the opportunity to create such meaningful memories for our students.”
