Distraction-Free Learning Report

During the 2025–2026 school year, Roslyn School District fully implemented and enforced its Student and Internet-Enabled Devices policy in compliance with New York State requirements. The district focused on proactive compliance, community outreach, and progressive, non-punitive interventions, such as verbal reminders, informal redirect, and phone confiscation for parent retrieval to minimize classroom distractions and support student well-being. Because early enforcement relied heavily on these informal, low-level interventions, infraction data was managed locally within individual school buildings rather than centralized in a standardized tracking database. As a result, the district did not compile aggregate, student-level demographic data for policy violations during the initial implementation year.

To satisfy state reporting obligations and ensure equitable policy administration moving forward, the District has upgraded its data infrastructure for the 2026–2027 academic year. All formal disciplinary referrals and interventions tied to internet-enabled device will be documented in a data system that will be created within our school District. This system enhancement will allow the District to capture disaggregated demographic metrics, conduct statistical disparity analyses, and publish comprehensive annual reporting as required by state law. The District remains committed to applying its device policy consistently and fairly across all student populations.
