The Board of Education is responsible for setting the vision, policies, and goals that guide the district’s educational programs and operations. As the governing body, the board adopts the annual budget, approves curriculum, and oversees financial management. It also establishes policies on matters such as student achievement, school safety, personnel, and facilities. Board members serve as representatives of the community, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to public needs and concerns. Through thoughtful governance and collaboration with district leadership, the Board of Education works to promote educational excellence and equity for all students.

in the Central Administration Building Boardroom. 
It is anticipated that the Board will immediately make a motion to enter into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Personnel and Legal Matters.

SECTION 466-a (Volunteer Firefighter and Volunteer Ambulance Worker Tax Exemption)

SECTION 471 (Surviving Spouses of Police Officers Killed in the Line of Duty Tax Exemption).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to New York Real Property Tax Law (“RPTL”) § 466-a and 471, the Board of Education of the Roslyn Union Free School District will hold public hearings at Roslyn Boardroom, 300 Harbor Hill Rd., Roslyn, NY 11576 on September 10, 2026  at 7:00 P.M. at which time and place the Board of Education of the Roslyn Union Free School District will discuss, consider, and provide an opportunity for interested residents to be heard regarding proposed resolutions related to the following real property tax exemptions:

Public Hearing 1: A proposed resolution amending the existing Volunteer Firefighters and Volunteer Ambulance Workers Tax Exemption pursuant to RPTL § 466-a.

Public Hearing 2:  A proposed resolution adopting  the Surviving Spouses of Police Officers Killed in the Line of Duty Tax Exemption pursuant to RPTL §471.
